Fr. Chris' Quilt.... Cactus Patch #2

I started piecing this quilt for Fr. Chris back in April during a sit and sew with the girls......then life got a bit hectic and I had to set it aside.

We had scheduled our vacation and I needed a project to work on at the cabin and this one is perfect.

I put my Accuquilt Studio Cutter to work and quickly cut up strips and strings.

While the guys are out fishing and having their fun, I am inside having mine.... working 5-6 hours a day..... I am making progress.

My friend, Judy, drove down from Ottowa to join me for a day of sewing and we had a blast.... chatting and laughing helped to pass the time and distracted me from the tediousness of making of these string blocks.

Including the 10 I made at home, I've completed the 100 blocks needed for the center of this quilt.  I will need to make more if I decide to follow the pattern and do the pieced border.... but I'm tired of them and ready to move on to the next step.

The next step.... 500 Half Square Triangles (HSTs) to surround the string blocks.   Ten hours later I have 200 complete.

I have 5 more colors to make the next 100 blocks.  After I make them, I will have to make duplicates unless I find 10 more fat quarters to add more variety.
