My friend Ellen, who might be interested in quilting, has been talking about this wonderful quilt her great grandmother made, and how she would maybe like to make something similar. Today, she treated me to a show. She carefully rolled this up between sheets onto a cardboard tube and what a thrill to have her unroll it on my living room floor!
Pieces stitched together with an assortment of beautiful stitches.
A painted bird and nest, applique pansies
Ribbons dated 1897 from a teachers association in Nashville, TN
And while this quilt did not have a label... it did have this little slip of paper pinned to it
